Miller & Associates partnered with Kearney Public Schools to rehabilitate Sunrise Middle School’s existing athletic track and field event areas, focusing on improving surface conditions, drainage, and overall safety. The project addressed aging pavement and wear issues that impacted usability and performance for student-athletes and community users.
Our team completed preliminary surveying and developed design plans and specifications for a 1½-inch asphaltic concrete overlay across the running track, high jump pad, and pole vault and long jump runways. The design approach prioritized a smooth, consistent surface while maintaining proper grading to support drainage and extend the life of the facility.
Miller & Associates also supported the bidding process, assisting with contractor selection and bid evaluation. During construction, our team provided on-site observation to monitor asphalt placement and ensure the work met project specifications and quality standards. Additional services included review of pay applications and recommendations for payment based on construction progress.
The completed rehabilitation significantly improved the functionality and safety of the track facility, providing a durable surface that supports athletic performance and long-term use.
