UNK Foster Field Turf Design

Kearney, NE

Miller & Associates provided surveying and civil design services for the replacement of synthetic turf at Foster Field located at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. The project restored a safe, high-performance playing surface for football and soccer activities.

Miller & Associates partnered with the project team to replace the aging synthetic turf at Foster Field, which had experienced more than thirteen years of continuous use. The project was driven by the need to maintain a safe, high-quality playing surface capable of supporting both football and soccer practices and competitions.

Our team performed a detailed site survey to accurately document existing conditions, including utility locations and drainage patterns. This information was critical in developing design plans that ensured proper grading, drainage performance, and coordination with existing site infrastructure. The design approach focused on creating a durable, well-drained playing surface that meets the demands of competitive athletics while minimizing long-term maintenance concerns.

Miller & Associates prepared precise construction documents to guide the turf replacement process from planning through installation. The project was successfully completed in 2017, culminating in a dedication ceremony on August 31, celebrating the upgraded facility and its continued role in supporting athletic programs and community use.
